5 ways to look younger this year

At some point in the next year, you will be turning one more year. This may get you excited on some levels, but it probably brings you some fear and awe as well. You may look in the mirror and wonder how many new wrinkles can appear with the highest digit in your age. Aging includes wrinkles and other unpleasant things, but you don’t have to accept them. You can challenge that highest digit in your age by doing some of the following things for your skin. The earlier you start taking care of your skin, the younger you will look when you turn that year. So … set, set, set!

1. Daily sunscreen

You have to wear sunscreen on all exposed areas of your body on a daily basis. Everyone knows how to lather when you are at the beach or doing something in a bathing suit, but that is not enough to prevent the sun from damaging your skin. You have to wear SPF every day on every part of the body that is exposed to the elements. This means your face every day, including an SPF-enriched lip balm or gloss. It also means your hands and possibly your legs depending on what you are wearing.

2. Regular hydration

Many of the skin problems faced by people with age stem from allowing the skin to dry out. You need a well-hydrated body if you want to look young and beautiful with each passing birthday. This means regularly applying moisturizing lotions and other products and drinking plenty of water. If you are dehydrated, you will never be as healthy as possible, and that includes your skin.

3. Exfoliation routine

You should remove dead skin cells and other possible debris from your skin on a regular basis. This can be done at home with a good exfoliating product, but you can also go for a professional facial that includes a high-quality exfoliation. Someone trained in skin care will be able to recommend exfoliation products for home use, as well as the best procedures when undergoing professional skin care treatment.

4. Professional cosmetics for skin health

If you really want to look younger, you need to make sure that what you put on your face every day nourishes your skin and keeps it healthy. This means opting for cosmetics designed for skin health, rather than a basic daily beauty enhancement. Many cosmetic practitioners now offer their own cosmetic lines that will do more good than harm to your skin.

5. Minimally invasive cosmetic procedures

All the other things on this list are designed as preventative measures, but at some point you will start to see more signs of aging than you really want to see. This is when you go to see your local cosmetic doctor for a consultation. You may decide that you do not want to have any procedures, or you may decide that there is something you are comfortable doing in the name of staying young. Either way, you at least deserve to go to the consultation and give yourself the option.

The cosmetic procedures used today can give gradual results, so no one has to know that something was done to you. They can remove blemishes from your face so you don’t look your age, no matter how many birthdays have passed.
