Family holidays in France

Just a hop over the channel, France is the ideal family holiday destination for Brits. Even with the bad exchange rate we’re currently experiencing, a short trip to France is infinitely more affordable than a couple of weeks in the Maldives and you won’t need any of the painful and expensive vaccinations.

France has a lot to offer the family. Children are catered for just as much as adults. Many resorts offer kids’ clubs to keep the kids busy, allowing you and your partner to enjoy each other’s company in peace for a few hours.

Kids’ clubs allow your children to meet other children, play sports and games, and even get a little education with many French-speaking staff members. You never know, your son could come back as the next Gerard Depardieu.

There are kids’ clubs in France that specialize in all age groups, so no matter how old your kids are, they’re sure to find a club that’s right for them and other kids to socialize with.

If you’d rather not pat them and want to spend your vacation time with the kids in tow, then France is even better. Why not rent a car and explore the French coast, mountains or countryside? Take a tour of some of the wineries dotted around the country, rent some bikes and get some fresh air while you get some much-needed exercise, rent a boat to go water skiing or banana boating. The list is endless. If you have thought about it, then you can probably do it in France. Except maybe that’s what the meatloaf sang about.

There is a wide range of accommodation for family holidays in France, so no matter what your budget, there is a holiday for you. You could stay in one of the fancy and cheap campsites. These camps are very popular with British, German, French and European families, making them friendly and safe. On site there are usually restaurants, bars, swimming pools, game rooms and sports facilities, such as tennis courts, volleyball courts, soccer fields, table tennis tables and much more, offering entertainment for the whole family.

If you don’t like camping, you can visit one of the many country club resorts scattered throughout the country. These work in a very similar way to the camps, with the notable difference that you stay in bungalows or houses instead of tents. There are usually 3-4 houses on a pool so you don’t end up shoulder to shoulder with other tourists trying to cool off from the summer sun.

Several of these country club resorts feature golf clubs, perfect for a relaxing round of golf. Kids and wife don’t like golf? Well, the kids can go to the kids’ club, and the wife can relax in the pool. Fixed problem.

What are you waiting for? Go and book your family vacation in France! You’ve done it already? Yeah? I thought so!
