Game Review – Latest Colin McRea on Xbox 360

DIRT is the latest version of Colin McRae’s rally game code masters version. DIRT, as the title suggests, is a completely new style in the series with Full HD graphics. That’s not to say that fans are disappointed in the game. DIRT goes a bit further into arcade territory than previous games, but it’s still a blast to drive and has some really impressive graphics.

There have been many driving games that look impressive, but very few live up to the HD images shown in DIRT, the game is a benchmark in next-gen racers in track design, car and road modeling. damage. The cars are beautifully rendered, highly detailed models that look so real that you can even see the brake calipers working. You can lose most of your body parts such as bumper side skirts, wheels, hood, exhaust, and many things. The tracks are just as beautiful, from the monsoon-ridden mountains of Japan to the dry desserts of Australia, the tarmac rallies of Italy, and the country roads of the UK.

However, all these great images come at a cost, the frame rate suffers at times and I did notice a slowdown in some races, especially on tracks with multiple cars on the track. So expect some performance issues unless you’re running a top-of-the-line PC slowdown not quite as much as the 360 version, but still annoying.

One problem with DIRT is that the multiplayer lacks many of the game modes, there is only climbing and rally. The usual form of online gambling is available in a lobby with a selection of servers and then voting on a hint. You can’t pick a car you want randomly all the time, which is disappointing.

When you stop looking at the graphics, you are presented with six game modes including, rally, rally cross, and hill climb. Crossover, time attack and rally aid. The game does a good job of giving you these modes explained by Travis Pastrana at the start of an event.

Realistic damage happens a lot, but the game still has an arcade feel to it. but this by no means makes it easy once you get past the first few events things get really tough. The handling is a bit light and it can feel like you’re not on the track a bit.

Some excellent cars in DIRT included. Subaru, Mitsubishi, Toyota, shogun, 206, as well as a series from the game, throw you 60 events and 150 additional cars to unlock.

GAME ………….. 8/10

GRAPHICS ………. … 9/10

SOUND ………………. 8/10

SHELF LIFE ……………. 7/10

GENERAL …………….. 8/10

Overall I am satisfied with this game, but I expected a bit more from the code masters. The multiplayer mode is the only thing that really lets me down, but with that said, I think you should give it a try if you like driving games. The game costs around $ 35-40 in all good stores.
