The easiest way to cure vampirism is once you’ve contracted hemophila (vampire disease), go to a local church and pray at the altar for a cure (seriously). If you have been sick for more than 3 days of play, you will be a vampire. There are some advantages to being a vampire. One of the best benefits is a great fortress, plus you have added bonuses and spells. The biggest drawback is that the sun begins to damage you and forces you to walk at night.
Another downside is that people and merchants will refuse to serve you in your vampire form. The way to lessen the effects is to feed off the sleeping NPCs. The best place to find sleeping NPCs is in the stables of any city. Usually there is a farm hand sleeping outside the barn. Make sure to access that area after 11pm. Now that you know how to contract, treat, and live with the disease, let’s talk about the cure.
Once you are a vampire, you must go to church and talk to someone at the altar. They will send you on a whirlwind tour across the country talking to different people. You will end up at the home of an old woman named Draklowe. She will prepare a potion for you, but first she will need some ingredients. First, you will need 5 Grand Soul Gems. This part of your trip will take longer, but with the help of this guide, I can save you a few hours. The five places I have found Grand Soul Gems:
1) Miscarcand Dungeon (west of Skingard)
2) Mina Squardered (with Draklowe)
3) Imperial Market (not sure which supplier)
4) Leyawjjn (wizard’s guild)
5) Bravil (Mages Guild)
Once you have all 5 Grand Soul Gems, take them to Darklowe and she will give you the next part of the mission. You will need 6 garlic cloves, 5 Nightshade leaves, and 2 BloodGrass sprouts. You will also need the blood of an Argonian and the ashes of a vampire from a vampire named Hindaril. All the ingredients can be found in various guilds and wizard markets. The blood of an Argonian is quite easy (there are the lizards). There’s a homeless Argonian wandering around the city of Leyawjjn, poke him with the dagger and voila. The last piece of the cure is that you need to kill a powerful vampire. Darklowe will give you the exact location of Hindaril. Once you kill him, she will give you the potion and an extra potion for a friend. I hope this guide helps you in your search.
