Is The Focus T25 Training Program Right For You?

My journey in earnest began with a phone call from a television station that wanted to interview me. I had raised money for veterinary expenses for dogs injured by the Vilonia tornado in 2014. My first thought was, “I’m in really bad shape! I can’t be on TV!” Terribly vain and self-absorbed, but 100% true!

When I posted about my 10 pound weight loss with the Cabbage Soup Diet on Facebook, a friend asked me what I was planning to do to continue my journey. After all, you couldn’t live on cabbage soup forever!

She recommended Focus T25.

What is the Focus T25?

Focus T25 was designed by famous fitness trainer, Shaun T. It is a fast paced, very intense and high impact program. It has ten 25-minute workouts, an exercise calendar, a nutrition guide, and a 5-day fast-track eating plan.

The basic kit has two 5-week tracks, Alpha and Beta. An optional third track, Gamma, is available in the Deluxe package, or as a separate add-on later.

My personal experience

I’ll be perfectly honest, this training was a challenge for me. I’m not a big fan of vigorous cardiovascular activity and I prefer lifting weights to cardio any day of the week. There were days when I just didn’t want to get up and “push the game.” And I lost count of the times I called Shaun T, especially when he talked about the “old man” on the team (if he can do it, you can do it). I was a decade older than him!

The schedule has one workout a day for four days, then two workouts on day five. For me, this overrides the entire 25-minute-a-day sales function. So I opted to exercise for six days instead of just five so that I could keep doing all the workouts.

I followed a LOT of Tanya the moderator in the beginning. By the end of 10 weeks, he had lost 8 1/2 pounds and 5 inches.

Pros

The only piece of equipment used in this workout is a resistance band, and it’s included. You work in the privacy of your own home, according to your schedule. There is a modifier to follow if the movements are too vigorous. The 5 day fast track is incredibly helpful and became my “basic” eating plan for all 10 weeks.

Cons

Allow yourself at least 30 minutes. While the workout is 25 minutes, there is a cool down at the end. You may need to exercise 6 days a week instead of 5. If you don’t like cardio, you may not like this program. Again, it is a very intense workout and may be too much for some people.

I recommend?

Yes! It is a challenge, but it is worth it. If you follow the nutrition guide and do the work, you will get results. Focus T25 isn’t for everyone, but while I’m not a fan of cardio, I’m a fan of this show. I got good results, and isn’t that what counts?
