Amitabh and Shahrukh at Bhoothnath

One of Bollywood’s most anticipated latest Hindi films ‘Bhoothnath’ is set to be released on 9th May 2008. The film ‘Bhoothnath’ is about the bond between a deceased grandfather (played by Amitabh Bachchan) and his grandson (played by Aman Siddique). The grandfather returns with his grandson as a ghost named ‘Bhoothnath’. Famous Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla plays the role of the boy’s widowed mother and Shahrukh Khan plays the role of the boy’s father.

After a long hiatus, ‘Bhoothnath’, one of the most anticipated upcoming Hindi movies, brings together the two supremes – Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. In between, rumors were flying left, right and center about the tension between the two actors and that the once good friends were no longer interested in working together. The director of the film Vivek Sharma says, “Shah Rukh Khan plays the husband of Juhi Chawla in the film. He is the father of Aman Siddique. SRK is a very mischievous father who encourages his son to play pranks. As he is not a character comprehensive, we’ve delayed his promotion for the film. He’ll be seen in a few days in the last week of the film before the release, promotions. We wanted to use it as a surprise package. A lot of people feel like he’s just there for two or three minutes, but he is there for 22 minutes in the movie.If we tell more about him,the element of surprise will be gone.Also,the movie belongs to Banku(Aman Siddique) and Bhoothnath(Amitabh Bachchan).I don’t want to confuse the audience by promising that it is a film by Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan”.

‘Bhoothnath’ is the seventh film in which Shahrukh and Amitabh have acted together. Other movies are Mohabbatein, Veer Zaara, Paheli, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham etc. Other cast in this movie are Rajpal Yadav, Satish Shah and Tejas etc. In an interview, the lead actor of this film, Amitabh Bachchan, was asked why he is doing ‘Bhoothnath’? Amitabh Bachchan replied, “Kuku (Ravi Chopra) and I are very old friends. He used to often come to me with this ‘ghost’ story, but I never showed much interest. At one point I even said no, but then the director Vivek Sharma I started crying, so I made an emotional decision and said yes. It was a very nostalgic experience shooting the movie.” He also explained his work experience with SRK, when asked about SRK, “We’ve done a lot of movies together. He’s a very dedicated actor and it’s always good to work with him. He has a small role in the movie but a good one. We had a good time.” shooting and we used to play games and chat during our spare time. I wish I was here for the event.”
