cell phone batteries

Mobile phones are one of the best innovations of the last decade. They have ushered in an era where anyone can be connected to others, anywhere, anytime. Texting has become a trend, not only among the youth but also at the corporate level. There is hardly anyone without a cell phone these days.

And as with technology, the cell phone has evolved in many ways. In fact, it may be the fastest evolving device out there, with new models hitting the market just a month apart. Apart from sophisticated gaming capabilities, most phones now have Internet browsing via WAP, video and photo cameras, radio and MP3 players. Some even have the capabilities of handheld PCs, allowing for word processing and presentations. All these additional applications consume a lot of power.

Most cell phone batteries are lithium ion (LiOn), the lightest type of rechargeable battery that does not affect memory.

Most phones offer vibrate alarm features. It’s actually the battery that vibrates. Some offer longer talk time hours (hours spent using the phone calling or receiving a call). Cell phone batteries are often specific to the phone model. Changing the batteries may cause damage to the units.

Before using your new phone, first charge the battery for eight continuous hours. Batteries need this initial charge. If you do not, the battery will expire before its expected useful life.

Avoid exposing your cell phone and battery to extreme heat and humidity. Be careful not to overcharge your phone. Heat can cause your unit to explode. Avoid dropping the batteries. Occasionally drain your batteries and charge them fully. If it is not used for more than two months, please fully recharge the battery.
