Divorce today: Moving forward in today’s society

Why is divorce considered so prevalent today?

Today, the traditional notion of divorce is under more pressure than ever. Recognizing the factors that lead to a modern divorce is more important than ever. We need to understand them to try to find a suitable solution in today’s fast-paced life.

There are quite a few commonly known factors that put some people at higher risk of divorce than others:

  • marry at a very young age,
  • lack of education and income,
  • live together before marriage,
  • premarital pregnancy,
  • lack or absence of religious affiliation,
  • feelings of insecurity,

Couples who show a lack of commitment, continually argue, are forced to marry too young, are expected to meet unrealistic expectations, live in an unequal relationship in relation to making important decisions, are at greater risk of ending their marriage prematurely.

These types of conflicts are a deadly combination in today’s fast-paced lifestyle. Today’s pace is geared toward self-improvement and choices other than encouraging people to invest in personal relationships that require much more commitment and time to deliver.

In the past, marriages used to be held together by many different factors; financial dependency, family pressure and expectations, strong religious beliefs, just to name a few. These factors seem to have weakened with today’s modern and impulsive lifestyle.

Understanding these factors can help you understand why you may be facing some of these challenges in your marriage.

Today’s marriages seem to be based primarily on the excitement of LOVE. As we all know, emotions can be very unstable and prone to breaking down in today’s impulsive lifestyle.

If love is lost, does it make sense to continue holding on to marriage?

Do you really have the time and patience to invest in your relationship or do you just prefer to move on?

If one’s emotions are not satisfied, the incentive is there to go ahead and try a second marriage.

Know exactly when to finish

  • Do you have the courage? after all, it is a life changing experience.
  • Have you fallen out of love or do you constantly feel helpless and can’t take it anymore?
  • Can you walk away from your relationship and get a divorce with dignity?
  • If you’ve decided enough is enough, only you have answers that can help you determine where your future lies.

Having said that, when a marriage doesn’t work out despite your best efforts, you will eventually come to terms with it, grieve, and then move on with your life.
