Being a newbie for a long time has surely brought out my own ignorance of creating my own online business. I started thinking about starting this business so that I would have something to work with when I retired. That was almost 2 years ago now. I was drawn to all the hype that all you had to do was set up a website and get all this free content and wait for the money to roll in.
Well, that was not to be the case. I got all the free information in reports and e-books that were submitted. I even spent money on the online training programs, bought the tapes, and signed up for the services that are guaranteed to make you a wealthy entrepreneur in 6 weeks or less. What I learned was that they had a lot of great ideas that were enough to keep him interested but not enough to create instant wealth for him as promised.
I must have been in a hurry and made several major mistakes that have cost me more than money.
I wasted an enormous amount of time and effort only to see no results. The biggest mistake I made was not reading the terms of service very carefully for these sites and I ended up getting banned for life. Googling was my first real lesson in not reading exactly what their terms were. However, it took me over a year to realize that I was violating their rule of clicking on the ads they placed on my blogs and ad-sense-ready websites. You see you don’t get paid for clicks until you reach at least $100.00 and with little to no traffic, that takes a long time.
This ban is permanent and for life, so please don’t make this mistake. Google is huge enough that you can pretty much do whatever you want, even though they will give you an appeal to try and restore your ability to use their ad-sense program. They probably won’t reinstate you. Now I really do read the terms of service more carefully for all the services I try to use.
Creating your own home business is very possible and having a passion for it, I know I will achieve this goal one way or another. Learning from a mistake really strengthens your ability to persevere.
