Charlottesville Riots and White Supremacy

As an Australian observing the race riots that have plagued the United States for centuries, the white supremacy movement is just another abomination. Whether it’s because of culture or other things, those who are upset with non-whites should look at their own background. As in this country, no white owned America before the Europeans arrived and many native Indians were massacred so that they could actually “steal” their country.

In reality, no one owns anything in the eyes of God. We are all temporary citizens who have been placed in certain places where we live. The color of our skin does not matter, we are exactly the same on the inside. What makes us look different is the horror that the whites have inflicted against the different native cultures in their ongoing war against them.

While my color is white (of English / Scottish origin), it allows me to speak with disgust against the hatred that many feel for people of color. What is it about them that makes those posing as civilized act so hideous?

Indigenous Australians are also survivors of persecution and murder. They have been pushed aside in the rush by European settlers to settle the country. After the initial attack, many have looked again at what it represents and that was seen as a threat.

To begin with, its arrival on this earth was about 65,000 years ago, according to the latest findings. They cherished it, nurtured it, and made a living off what white people viewed as a hostile landscape. They developed a culture that is now featured on the world stage and many are paying thousands for the artwork and other products.

Like Native Americans and African Americans, they were used as slaves, paid little or nothing for their efforts, and were for the most part looked down upon when they tried to rise above their humble status. Isn’t this what race riots in America are all about today? Do they not represent a competition that the jealous “best class” cannot bear?

The white psyche seems to retaliate against anyone who stands in its way to power. Perhaps that is why there is such a backlash against Barack Obama, who, in the opinion of many Australians, was one of the best presidents of recent times. The slurs and videos against him are typical of those who consider themselves ‘better’.

Troublemakers in the city of Charlottesville and elsewhere need a wake-up call. Drop your hatred and look at those who have helped build your country with love and respect. That way a civil war could be avoided.
