HTC Magic Android: siding with Google in the mobile war

The Android HTC Magic is also known as the “Donut” and “MyTouch 3G” depending on the network provider you bought the phone from. It is an Android phone with full Google support. Features like Gmail, Google maps, search, and YouTube make it a power-packed device. This phone is a smart innovation that combines HTC features with Google features. This is, perhaps, the reason for the remarkable success of the phone in the consumer market.

All Google software has been enabled on this phone for your convenience, including the integrated applications for search, maps, Gmail, Google talk and YouTube. This makes the phone extremely user friendly, convenient and easy to use in terms of functionality.

The screen type is a 65k color TFT capacitive touch screen. It measures approximately 320×480 pixels, has a trackerball and an accelerometer sensor for automatic rotation. The phone has expandable memory and an internal memory of 288 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM. As for the calendar entries, photocall and call log, they are practically unlimited.

The phone certainly does not disappoint when it comes to data connections, as it supports 3G, WLAN Wifi, Bluetooth, USB, Edge and GPRS. Another important feature is the camera that has a resolution of 3.15 Megapixels with auto focus and the option to take videos as well.

An additional advantage of the device is that it is extremely light and therefore easy to transport. Other good points of this device are that the touchscreen is exceptional, messaging is easier than before, and there is an Android update.

Although the published spec list of the phone is quite impressionable, there are a few issues with this device. The keyboard needs some improvements and it doesn’t have a full QWERTY keyboard, which makes it a bit unbearable. Also, the onscreen keyboard keys are too small and messy. Besides that the camera has no flash and there is no 3.5mm audio jack. These may be minor issues, but they make a big difference with relevance to convenience. Some people also complain about the battery life of the product, which does not exceed a day or two.

Concluding our case we must say that the device is great but with the suggested improvements it can become even better. Overall, HTC magic is an excellent production from HTC and the innovative decision to integrate Google software with HTC features was pretty brilliant too, but it tends to fall short in a few key areas.
