Living Well: Beating Baby Eczema

Eczema is a term that refers to a specific range of inflammatory skin conditions that occur anywhere on the body. Redness, itching, swelling, and dryness are common symptoms of the uncomfortable problem, which exists on a spectrum from mildly bothersome to very severe.

Although adult cases may be less common, eczema rashes are one of the most common skin complaints in infants and young children. There is much debate about whether food allergies trigger the onset of the condition or whether external pathogens are to blame. In severe cases, eczema often co-occurs with other aspects of the allergy, such as hay fever or asthma, and is known to worsen with the arrival of colder weather.

Shortly after her birth, my daughter Bella developed red spots on her face and arms. Not only did the blotchy spots seem to itch, but the angry flecks began to become a constant feature in all of her baby photos, too, a frustrating reminder that she was struggling to address her problem and ensure my baby’s comfort.

Unaware that I was an Arbonne consultant during our appointments, two pediatricians recommended Arbonne’s baby lotion and wash to me while I was working on Bella’s eczema. Of course, I was already using both products. But what they recommended was to mix a drop of 1% hydrocortisone cream (available over the counter) with the lotion. For us, this was the magic wand. We immediately started to see improvements. For extreme cases, I know of other pediatricians who recommend supplementing ABC Baby Oil the morning after this routine.

This ABC Baby Care free eczema treatment is not reserved just for babies…the benefit is the same for toddlers and adults.

As we welcome our second baby, I am ready to apply the lessons I learned with Bella. Three products I consider a ‘must have’ for parents welcoming a new bundle of joy include Arbonne ABCs, including Arbonne ABC Hair & Body Wash, Arbonne Body Lotion and Arbonne Nappy Rash. herbs. I can’t tell you how many women over the years have gushingly approached me about how our “Butt Cream” (pardon my French!) saved their baby’s butt!

If you know a young child struggling with eczema, are struggling with the problem yourself, or just want to treat yourself and consider some great skin products specifically tailored for you, I invite you to call or email me. Let’s explore if Arbonne might have a skin care product or answer you’ve been looking for.
