The HTC Sensation offers more than just great music features

The HTC Sensation XL was released alongside the Sensation XE, as an alternative to the popular original version. HTC Sensation XL clearly presents itself as a device for music lovers, thanks to a host of impressive music features including Beats Audio, plenty of built-in storage and downloadable music widgets.

Aside from its credentials as a music phone, the HTC Sensation XL is also capable of competing with most of its rival phones in many other areas as well. Below I’ll take a look at some of the features of the HTC Sensation XL that are often overlooked in favor of its music features.

OS

The HTC Sensation XL runs the ‘Gingerbread’ version of the popular Android platform. Although not the latest version, HTC has confirmed that the Sensation XL will receive an update to the new ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’ version in the near future. In addition to the Gingerbread operating system is the renowned HTC Sense user interface. This is HTC’s custom Android interface, which brings many innovations to the standard Android interface. Some of HTC Sense’s attributes include the ability to assign up to seven different home screens, along with impressive tweaks in some apps. An example of this is that when using the Sense Internet Browser, when you pinch to zoom on a website, the text will change both in size and layout. On most other phones, only six of the text will change, meaning you’ll still have to scroll back and forth to read full black text. However, with the Sense UI, the text will change size and shape to fit the screen, so you just have to scroll up and down to read it. This is just one example of the kind of innovative approach HTC takes to enhance everyday tasks, and it shows up perfectly in phones like the HTC Sensation XL.

Camera

The phone is well-equipped as a camera phone, thanks to an 8-megapixel unit that works at a resolution of 3524x 2448 pixels, resulting in high-quality still images. Unlike its Sensation and Sensation XE counterparts, this phone can’t capture 1080p video, partly because it only has a single-core processor (although it’s a powerful 1.5GHz offering). Instead, video is captured at resolutions up to 720p, which is still classified as high definition and is sure to impress most users with its playback quality.

Of course, there’s a lot more to the HTC Sensation XL than I could cover, but as you can see, it offers premium technology in almost every area of its spec list. When an Android update is available for the phone, the user experience will be further improved.
