Alta ski resort
Possibly the best ski resort in Utah, Alta Ski Resort is the preferred destination in Utah for serious skiers. Located about 27 miles east of Salt Lake City, it is nestled in the Wasatch Mountains at the top of Little Cottonwood Canyon. Alta has very challenging terrain, comprising slopes and allowing skiing in the trees.
There are also a large number of slopes that are easy to get down, making it possible for even beginners to come to Alta for an incredible skiing experience.
Alta is also one of the oldest ski resorts in America and has its own set of traditions. For example, if you are looking for a snowboarding adventure, you will not be welcome at Alta. Its long tradition prohibits snowboarders from entering the enclosure.

Canyons ski resort
If size matters to you, The Canyons is the ski resort for you. Covering nine mountain peaks in Park City, Utah, the resort features 1,600 acres of skiable terrain with 19 chair lifts, 182 trails, and three terrain parks. Although there are provisions for all levels of skiing, beginners will find their options for ski areas limited.
When you go to The Canyons be sure to check out their excellent drop line cruises of different pitches and the remarkable tree skiing in well cleared areas. Unlike Alta, snowboarders are more than welcome in the Canyons.
During the summer, the resort also has a long trail system for mountain biking or hiking. Other activities include zip lining and a miniature golf course. With the complex offering different things for different people, the place draws a crowd of all types and ages.
Park City Mountain Resort
With excellent snow quality, varied terrain, and an environment conducive to family vacations, Park City has it all. The world-renowned ski resort sits on the main street of a lively, cosmopolitan city called Park City. It is the best ski resort in Park City for its convenient location and the fact that it welcomes snowboarders.
As it once hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics, the complex is in very good condition. There are 16 lifts with 6-seater high-speed chairlifts and quad chairs. There is also a chairlift that rises from the middle of the main street. Park City Mountain Resort (PCMR) has an area of 1,335 hectares and 114 trails. It has a large percentage of terrain of medium difficulty which makes it ideal for intermediates. However, that’s not to say that beginners don’t have a lot of fun on the terrain, they do. For the experts, there are the steep ones that are challenging enough.
Another reason Park City is one of the best ski options in Utah is because of the many things it has to offer. You can shop, dine, people-watch, and do other activities. PCMR also has a vibrant nightlife.
