Upper West Side is one of the best neighborhoods in New York.
New York City’s Upper West Side runs from 59th Street, Columbus Circle to 116th Street, between the Hudson River and Central Park.
For all those who want a less noisy New York City environment, the Upper East Side and Upper West are ideal places to look for a rental or to buy an apartment.
You’ll discover many stylish little communities on Manhattan’s upper west side. Marvelous landmark brownstone structures on tree-lined streets shield you from the noises of midtown Manhattan. The beautiful architecture of the old properties is spectacular. It has many condominiums and cooperatives with amazing views of Central Park; it also has river views on the entire east and west side of the city.
The Upper West Side of New York is very diverse and dynamic. Very easy commute is very attractive as you have the main metro lines 1, 2, 3, C, B, you also have buses that cross the city and taxi is always an option.
There is a wide variety of restaurants and shops. On Broadway you have great markets for food delivery, on Columbus Avenue there are great boutique boats and restaurants. The area is expensive like most areas of Manhattan, but the neighborhood is worth renting or buying.
Entertainment is great in the area; you have Lincoln Center with performing arts stages on West 62nd Street and Broadway to 65th Street. In the summer, right across from Lincoln Center, you have free performances from all over the world.
116th Street is home to Columbia University, so the area is very popular with students attending the University who prefer to live nearby.
New Yonians who want to get away from the noise of the busy city find an escape in Central Park, with its lakes, walking paths and wide open spaces, where you can simply take a walk and get away and relax at any time of day.
The most expensive buildings are located along Central Park West, which is one of the most desirable areas in New York City. “Dakota,” the condominium building also on the upper west side, 1 West 72nd Street, is one of the most expensive in Manhattan, and John Lennon primarily lived there. The famous building has attracted the rich and famous and still does to this day.
As a real estate broker, we get inquiries from clients who are only interested in the Upper West Side, or would primarily like to live near the park, some are drawn to the Columbus Circle area, which is one of the areas most expensive in the city. Most importantly, if money is not an issue, you can buy or rent anywhere you want.
Since the real estate market is improving, there is no longer excess inventory, it is harder to find good deals, and many wish they had bought when good deals could be found.
